Prayer for Beginners, by Peter Kreeft, is based on a book praised by Pope Leo XIV!
As the Church is faced with unprecedented times in the culture with the unrest of spiritual and moral decline, we must find answers. Whether or not your parish is vibrant and flourishing, or facing the misfortune of Catholics not attending Mass and not receiving the sacraments regularly, the first answer, of course, is prayer.
As Peter Kreeft simply states in his book, Prayer for Beginners, “prayer makes a difference, it changes things . . . and it always changes our relationship with God.”
Prayer for Beginners is based on Brother Lawrence’s The Practice of the Presence of God, which Pope Leo XIV praised as “a type of prayer and spirituality where one simply gives his life to the Lord and allows the Lord to lead.” Pope Leo said that “if you want to know something about me, that’s been my spirituality for many years.”
Catholics know that they need to pray more, but most struggle to pray and end up prioritizing other things instead of praying. This short, approachable, and insightful book gives Catholics practical advice on how to pray more frequently and meritoriously.
Peter Kreeft brings his unique insights to this most important area of our spiritual lives. This book is for all those who feel that they are not good at praying but desire to become much better at it.
